Ergonomics Best Practice Award
Objective | The Ergonomics Best Practice Award is to reward professional ergonomics practitioners and companies. Practitioners considered for the award must have conducted high quality ergonomics related projects during the previous year. Companies considered for the award must have applied ergonomic principles and knowledge extensively in their businesses during the previous year. The project(s) should normally be conducted in Hong Kong or related to Hong Kong. This Award is set up with an aim to nurture the growth of research and application of ergonomics in Hong Kong and Asian region as a whole. |
The Awards | A number of awards will be given out annually depending on the number and quality of the submission(s) in that year. The number of awards is determined at the sole discretion of the Society. Winners will receive their respective award(s) at the HKES Award Presentation ceremony to be announced in due course. The Ergonomics Best Practice Award carries a certificate and a plaque of recognition. One-year membership at the appropriate level will be given to any individual awardee. The award recipient(s) may be requested to present the winning project(s) at the Presentation ceremony. |
Eligibility | Each applicant should submit an individual application. Membership in the Hong Kong Ergonomics Society is not required for submitting an application. |

Outstanding Student Project Award
Objective | The Outstanding Project Award is to reward students who conduct an outstanding project in an area related to ergonomics. The award targets rewarding students who study or have studied in a tertiary education institution in Hong Kong and have attained outstanding performance in their current final year project or dissertation. This Award is set-up to nurture the growth of research and application of ergonomics in Hong Kong and the Asian region as a whole. |
The Awards | A number of awards will be given out annually depending on the number and quality of the submission(s) in that year. The number of awards is determined at the sole discretion of the Society. Winners will receive their respective award(s) at the HKES Award Presentation ceremony. There are two types of award: (i) merit award, and (ii) outstanding project award. Merit award carries a cash prize of HK$800 and a certificate of recognition while the outstanding project award carries a cash prize of HK$1,500 and a certificate of recognition. One-year membership at the appropriate level will be given to the individual awardee. A certificate of recognition will also be given to the recipient’s supervisor (for student award). The award recipient(s) may be requested to present the winning project(s) at the Presentation ceremony. |
Eligibility | Full-time or part-time students who study in any of the tertiary education institutions in Hong Kong are eligible for submitting an application. These include sub-degree, undergraduate and postgraduate (taught course or research degrees) levels. Eligible applicants must have completed their academic award earning programme or have recently graduated from the programme (within one year of graduation). For Group Project, the maximum group size is limited to 6. At each level, we only accept the caption projects appropriate to that level. In general, this will mean the Final Year Project for sub-degree and undergraduate levels, dissertation for MSc level and theses for MPhil and PhD levels. All projects should have been completed and passed all the requirements such as oral examination and the revision of dissertation. Students are eligible to apply for this award within 2 years of their study completion. |
